Jessica Rowe Is The Ultimate Feminist

March 19, 2018

I may be late to the party to congratulate Jessica Rowe on her resignation from Studio 10, but I am truly so very happy for her.

I’m happy because she made a decision, albeit very difficult I am sure, to stand within her own power and do something that felt right for her and her family in a time when many women may feel uncomfortable about doing that.

There has been much said in the media about the “reasons” behind her moving on, but why can’t it just be because she wants to spend more time with her family? Is that really so terrible?

In my books, that is plenty reason enough and, just as a woman should be able to choose to put her career first, or choose to balance family and career, she should also be able to choose to put her family first.

“My family need me. I want to be a more present mother for my girls Allegra and Giselle,” Jessica said on air.

This is the pure essence of feminism. Having the power to choose your own path regardless of what it is and regardless of gender.

So the rumour mill can continue spinning the “reasons” behind Jessica’s decision, but I for one am really proud of her for taking a stand and making a decision that clearly feels right to her at this moment in time.

The media needs to stop acting like this is the end for Jessica Rowe. It’s just the end of this chapter in her book. There are so many more exciting chapters ahead of her and some may even include a return to work…or not.

To quote Oprah, what I know for sure is that the decision will be Jessica’s and I can’t wait to see what her future holds.
